Two Choices For Your Barcoded Labels

You have two choices for your barcoded labels. As a label printing company, we don’t provide all services for your product labels  but we can steer you in the right direction. We can offer you suggestions for label applicators and the legal requirements of your product labels. By far the most common enquiry we receive is for barcoded labels.

In my blog from 2011, How do I get a barcode for my product labels, I suggested GS1 as the obvious choice. I believe this company is still the biggest supplier of barcodes in Australia.

However, this blog was written eight years ago and today GS1 has a few competitors. I have had a couple of our customers come to me this year and recommend Barcodes Australia. Now, it is not my role to say one company is better than the other. It is up to you to do your own research.

Why Barcoded Labels Are Important

Earlier this month, one of our new customers came to us after approving his artwork for many different labels because he decided at the last minute to add barcodes. We had not gone to print and this is a sensible course of action. You see, you can always have a barcode and not use it. This can occur if you sell your products in informal settings such as weekend markets or on the internet.

A barcode is essential for any product to keep track of stock and lists the price for sale.

If you wish to sell your products at retail outlets, even small ones, then a barcode will help and most retailers have scanning equipment which keeps track of stock and lists the price for sale. If you have ambitions to sell many thousands of your products and get others to do the selling for you, then a barcode is an essential component of your product labels.

Never print barcoded labels with any business except the most reputable of label printing companies. You need high resolution artwork and high resolution printing so the variable thickness of the lines in your barcode will be easily read by all scanners at retail outlets. Do not compromise on quality when you add barcodes to your product labels.
